MacKenzie-Childs Retired Spiral Candlestick in King Ferry-EARLY 1 unit
Measurement: 8 1/2″ High single
This beautiful handmade tall spiral candlestick is a piece of history from the MacKenzie-Childs era when Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs owned and designed at the factory in Aurora up until 2001. Currently, this pattern and shape is not in production and has been retired for some time, so this piece is more collectible.
Has early large VRMC square logo stamped on bottom of mug in clay no date and old potters mark a square
Condition: There is a small glaze crawl on the lip of cup at top-not a chip, but a crawl so it is where the glaze pulled back revealing majolica clay during firing and didn’t pool back when cooling. Not considered a flaw with majolica clay, but hard for people to understand that characteristic.
Pre-owned
The pattern King Ferry was named for the grid of fields and flowers and sky and homestead to the MacKenzie-Childs family life from the Story Behind the Patterns.
King Ferry was part of the Taylor Series.
Candlestick is in good pre-owned condition, due to being handmade, the center spiral is a bit crooked, but not a defect but the wonky and whimsy of what makes MacKenzie-Childs stand out in design recognition.
