Description
This upcycled long dress/ top “Bonnie” has been reconstructed with several different parts from thrift store finds. The main part of the top was taken from a Men’s Large short sleeve casual blue plaid shirt and then I took a Large Women’s chiffon long flowing blue skirt and sewed it to the top at the flap chest pockets. The pocket flaps were lifted up, and the skirt sewn at the pocket over the flap that is now holding up the skirt to under chest level. The skirt is also sewn on the area between the 2 pockets and that’s is, the skirt is left free to be adjusted once on. I added 2 side seam pockets on the skirt, and the skirt is not lined, the Men’s shirt I used for the top, I kept it intact to it would cover the rear for most, but this top/dress is to be worn over leggings or jeans. I guess it also could be worn as a dress, just would need to wear a slip under it or leggings. The sleeves were made from another Men’s knit casual top then added the cuffs from the Top shirt and some cotton lace. The collar of the Men’s plaid shirt was cut off and surged around the opening. This top is to be pullover head. Colors are all in different shades of blue, from denim to French blue, dark blue and creamy white. Both the Men’s top is Large and the skirt is Large Fabrics: The main body of the blue check top is 95% cotton and 5% spandex , the skirt I don’t know the fabric content but is very sheer and feels like chiffon. The striped knit sleeve a cotton blend, and the white crochet lace in a cotton.
NOTE: Since this garment is made from second hand items, expect some minor wear. This might include gently faded fabric, minor pilling, or small areas where the color has become uneven. The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment. Each garment is a one of a kind, thus the name, Born Again Original, taking that discarded item and giving it new life in a new unique way. I am not a professional seamstress, so my inside seams are not french seams and stitching most likely is crooked. This, I feel is all part of the imperfect “hand” in the process. I make each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!
