“ MiMi” This fun glam beach tote bag was handmade from upcycled materials. A beach towel was used for the main body of the bag. At the top is a 3” border taken from a terry towel. The tote measures 20” wide 20” high. The singe strap 42” end to end by 2 1/2” wide. At each end of the strap is a button with strips of denim and terry like tassels. The strap is made up of scraps of denim, the beach towel and the stripe material. The image on the front was from a t-shirt of girl in a bun with rhinestone round glasses holding a small dog. Added was a peach rose scrap suede collar with buckle sewn on with French knots. There is a flower applique from a vintage linen towel and a hummingbird from a thrift store towel appliqued by flower. The bag has a 8 x 7 1/2” pocket on the back of bag made from the beach towel with flip flops on them. The fringe on the bottom of the tote is made from denim strips, and the striped mini cotton fabric that was a thrifted tablecloth. Fringe averages about 7”long. The bag is NOT lined and the fringe is made with raw edges to fray for that shabby look. On the from there is a bow of lace and stripe strips that dangle down the front. There is an inside pocket the same size as the pocket on the back. Whether you are hauling beach attire, or groceries, this tote is fun and one of a kind!
NOTE: Since this garment is made from second hand items, expect some minor wear. This might include gently faded fabric, minor pilling, or small areas where the color has become uneven. The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment. Zero Waste is the goal. Each garment is a one of a kind, thus the name, Born Again Original, taking that discarded item and giving it new life in a new unique way. I am not a professional seamstress, so my inside seams are not French seams and stitching most likely is crooked. This, I feel is all part of the imperfect “hand” in the process. I make each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day! Fabrics: the stripe fabric is 100% cotton from thrift tablecloth, the terry cloth is cotton towel, the t-shirt cotton, vintage flower, linen/cotton, hummingbird cotton, denim cotton. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. Item has been pre-washed from a non-smoking home
