MacKenzie-Childs Ceramic fluted Bread & butter plate in Bearded Iris EARLY 80’s- Pre-owned
Collectible from Victoria’s Aunt & Mother’s Collection
This handmade fluted dish is a piece of history from the MacKenzie-Childs earliest beginnings era when Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs owned and designed at the factory in Aurora up until 2001. Currently, this pattern and shape is not in production and has been retired for some time, so this piece is more collectible.
The fluted bread & butter plate is 7″ diameter. Plate is very old, early VRMC logo stamped on bottom before they had any date stamps. Has old potters stamp of a a long dash & small dot next to logo on bottom. The dish is thick and heavier than the saucers in this line.
The pattern Bearded Iris remembers the bright yellow beards in its botanical drawing of Richard’s Iris garden. From The Story Behind The Patterns . Bearded Iris was part of the Taylor Series.
Bread & Butter plate is in nice vintage condition- soft painterly colors creamy, no chips, or cracks, crawls on top side, a tiny pinhole on the underside that are natural to majolica clay-
