MacKenzie-Childs Retired Pottery Torquay Chocolate pot in Kelp & Urchin color stripe with product postcard
This handmade and handpainted Tall Chocolate Pot in the Torquay series pattern Kelp & Urchin, is a piece of history from the MacKenzie-Childs era when Victoria and Richard MacKenzie-Childs owned and designed at the factory in Aurora up until 2001. Currently, this pattern and shape is not in production and has been retired for some time, so this piece is more collectible.
The Chocolate Pot stands 15 1/2″ high to the top of the ball on lid and the foot base is 4 1/2 x 4 1/2″ “, 10 1/2” wide. Has a 64oz capacity.
Has VRMC logo stamped on bottom of Chocolate Pot in clay with 1995 marked along with potters stamp.
The lid is handpainted in greens in a marble pattern with brass bead at top. Body of Chocolate Pot is both handpainted in black, teal green,urchin purple and yellow dots. Also applied are ceramic floral decals fired into glaze . The 2 side handles were left unglazed to leave the raw majolica clay. Gold painted rim edge. The white glaze is a little thick and pooled a bit where handle and spout connect but other than that, there are no chips or cracks. Pre-owned.

Torquay is a seaside resort town on the English Channel in Devon, south west England. Known for beaches such as Babbacombe and cliffside Oddicombe, its coastline is nicknamed the English Riviera. Victoria & Richard were inspired of the colors in this line by all the striped beach umbrellas and the tented Cabanas at the seashore.
