Description
This upcycled top “Birgit” has been reconstructed using Thrift store finds of a brown knit jacket, a Men’s plaid dress shirt, pockets made from another Men’s small check dress shirt, cuffs off of a striped knit t-neck, and breast pocket and back applique accents from a 3rd Men’s dress shirt scraps; then the embroidery on front and back came off of a knit L/S t shirt. Colors are brown, brown/tan/green plaid, white, yellow, rose, and black. Nice big buttons open to a high waist 8” down from the top button, then sewn closed to the hem. Front breast pockets are non-working (applique is sewn over pockets) Hip pockets made from sleeves of dress shirt and hands slide in from the sides. 3/4” sleeves, surged at the bottom opening. On back there is an applique of a plaid pot with embroidered flowers springing out. The hem is a shirt tail hem lower on front and back, up on sides.
Fabrics: The solid brown top part was a size M and is 100% cotton. The brown/wht stripe cuffs on sleeves are 55%poly and 45% cotton, The Men’s shirts in the plaids I don’t have the fabric content, but I’m thinking a poly/cotton blend or all cotton. The embroidery, I’m assuming it’s cotton, but it could be a blend.
NOTE: Since this garment is made from second hand items, expect some minor wear. This might include gently faded fabric, minor pilling, or small areas where the color has become uneven. The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment. Each garment is a one of a kind, thus the name, Born Again Original, taking that discarded item and giving it new life in a new unique way. I am not a professional seamstress, so my inside seams are not french seams and stitching is most likely crooked. This, I feel is all part of the imperfect “hand” in the process. I make each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!
This is a NON RETURNABLE ITEM! Please take note of the measurements below. Please measure a favorite outfit (not while on yourself) laid out on a flat surface, and compare the measurements I have provided. Also take into consideration the fabrics…knits/acrylic/poly give a little, cottons do not. If you have any questions about this garment please contact me prior to purchasing. I will gladly send you more photos. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. Garment has been pre-washed from a non-smoking home.
Measurements: Garment is measured when laid on a flat surface and measured across or down on the front side.
Bust: I measured from the front side armpit across front to other armpit 19 ” . I measured 2” down from the armpit on the side seam and measured across the front to the other side seam (Bust) and that measured 18 1/2”
Waist: Measured about 6” down from the armpit on the side seam and across front to other side seam 20”
Hips: Measured about 12” down from armpit area on side seam across front to other side seam 22” The opening at the hem is 22 1/2”
Shoulders: Measured from center of the back of the neck to top of sleeve 8”,
Sleeve: Measured top of sleeve seam down to bottom of cuff 13 ” cuff opening 5”
Length: Measured the front center opening to the hem 23 1/4” From the center back of the neck seam to hem 27”
