Description
This upcycled wide wale corduroy jacket named “Corrie” has been reconstructed using Thrift store finds of a size Large brown corduroy jacket/coat which I think is a girls size large, only because the waist seam is so high. See photos on model of how it fits on an adult. The sleeves are ¾ flounced and I added a green stripe knit sleeve underneath so the sleeve is now a full length sleeve. The opening is actually large snaps that I have sewn large coconut shell buttons over the top of the snaps. There are pockets in the sides. I top stitched in green embroidery thread a running stitch around the shoulders, the waist, the sleeves, the collar and the hem. I cut out from a knit top the embroidered appliques to sew on by hand to the front and the back. There are green stripe knit tabs sewn onto the collar along with buttons. On the back are assorted ribbons in different lengths sewn on with assorted buttons. The jacket/coat is only lined at the shoulders only. The colors of the jacket are brown, with appliques in yellow, green, pink, orange cream. There are 6 large coconut shell buttons, 4 on front, 1 on each collar,
Fabrics: The corduroy jacket is 100% cotton, the knit sleeve I don’t have a fabric, it may be all poly or poly acrylic? The ribbons on back polyester and the embroidered appliques I believe are cotton. All have been pre-washed.
NOTE: Since this garment is made from second hand items, expect some minor wear. This might include gently faded fabric, minor pilling, or small areas where the color has become uneven. Some fraying of fabrics was done purposefully for design, and will only fray up to the point where the stitching meets. The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment. Each garment is a one of a kind, thus the name, Born Again Original, taking that discarded item and giving it new life in a new unique way. I am not a professional seamstress, so my inside seams are not french seams and stitching is most likely crooked. This, I feel is all part of the imperfect “hand” in the process. I make each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!
This is a NON RETURNABLE ITEM! Please take note of the measurements below. Please measure a favorite outfit (not while on yourself) laid out on a flat surface, and compare the measurements I have provided. Also take into consideration the fabrics…knits/acrylic/poly give a little, cottons do not. If you have any questions about this garment please contact me prior to purchasing. I will gladly send you more photos. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. From a non-smoking home.
