Welcome to my boutique of Born Again Originals! Each item is a one of kind, not to be seen ever on anyone else, for I create my designs by starting with a discarded, thrift store find, then reconstruct, embellish with appliques, or mixture of other parts of thrift clothing, trims, buttons, whatever to ensure that each creation is different and never the same. Just as you are…a one of kind, so you have found the right place….come and spend a little time perusing through these designs. The work you will find is diverse and unique….an eclectic mix of materials, textures and patterns. This upcycled top I named “Granny T” a wink to my Grandmother, the top has been reconstructed using Thrift store finds of a knit scarf, knit top, granny square knit afghan, buttons, and trim. The top has a black with light glittery knit with a maroon trim around armholes and waist. There are buttons around the top of the neck, and 2 pockets on front lined with vintage fabric and accented with sleeve knit material. The sleeves are a stretchy knit scarf made into sleeves in a multi-color picking up the colors in the granny squares. The bottom half of the top is cut from an afghan of handmade granny squares. A unique one of a kind top, a Born Again Original, love mixing tossed away items into wearable art! The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment I take that discarded item and give it new life in a new unique way. Each piece is handmade and any little imperfections, I feel is all part of the “hand” in the process. I design each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!
Fabrics: unknown, but the granny squares are yarn , the black glittery top is a stretchy knit of some kind, the sleeves are a knit stretchy scarf and the maroon trim is a fuzzy knit of some type with plastic buttons. 2 pockets on front accented with sleeve fabric. Garment is marked Large, but has been reconstructed so see measurements below. This is a NON RETURNABLE ITEM! Please take note of the measurements below. Please measure a favorite outfit (not while on yourself) laid out on a flat surface, and compare the measurements I have provided. Also take into consideration the fabrics…knits/acrylic/poly give a little, cottons do not. If you have any questions about this garment please contact me prior to purchasing. I will gladly send you more photos. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. Garment has been pre-washed from a non-smoking home.
Measurements: Garment is measured when laid on a flat surface and measured across or down on the front side.
Bust: I measured from the front side seam to armpit across front to other armpit 21 ” .
Waist: Measured about 2” down from the armpit on the side seam and across front to other side seam 21 1/2””
Hips: Measured side seam across front to other side seam 24” The opening at the hem is 22 1/2”
Shoulders: Measured from center of the back of the neck to top of sleeve 8”,
Sleeve: Measured top of sleeve seam down to bottom of cuff 19 ” flowy sleeve opening
Length: Measured from top of neck to the hem 33” Hem opening: 53”
