Welcome to my boutique of Born Again Originals! Each item is a one of kind, not to be seen ever on anyone else, for I create my designs by starting with a discarded, thrift store find, then reconstruct, embellish with appliques, or mixture of other parts of thrift clothing, trims, buttons, whatever to ensure that each creation is different and never the same. Just as you are…a one of kind, so you have found the right place….come and spend a little time perusing through these designs. The work you will find is diverse and unique….an eclectic mix of materials, textures and patterns. This upcycled top I’ve named “Joy”. Made from several knit tops, it’s a colorful explosion of color and texture, a celebration of life. The top is a knit hoodie that was almost a crop top length. I cut off the bottom of a crew knit dot sweater and surged it to the bottom and then added gingham check ribbon I had in my stash along the seam for added pattern fun. The sleeves are a combination of 3 tops. The striped from a thrift find cotton cardigan, the orange stripe a thrift Men’s rugby shirt and the cuffs from the cuffs of a knit sweater, I liked the colors and the continued explosion of color at the fingertips. I added beads from a broken necklace to the ends of the hoodie ties for more pattern. On the back I added a flower applique that came from a thrift find knit cardigan, for an element of surprise. The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment I take that discarded item and give it new life in a new unique way. Each piece is handmade and any little imperfections, I feel is all part of the “hand” in the process. I design each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!

Please measure a favorite outfit (not while on yourself) laid out on a flat surface, and compare the measurements I have provided. If you have any questions about this garment please contact me prior to purchasing. I will gladly send you more photos. Remember, these fabrics are knits so there will be some “give” and I have measured while the garment was at “rest” not stretching to the limits. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. Garment has been pre-washed from a non-smoking home.
Measurements: Garment is measured when laid on a flat surface and measured across or down.
Bust: 1st measured from the front side armpit across to other armpit 20 1/2” . I measured 2” down from the armpit on the side seam and measured across the front to the other side seam (Bust) and that measured 19 3/4”
Waist: Measured about 6” down from the armpit on the side seam and across front to other side seam 20”
Hips: Measured about 12” down from armpit on side seam across front to other side seam 21”
Shoulders: Measured from center of the back of the neck to top of sleeve 10 1/2”, top of sleeve to bottom of cuff 19”
Sleeve: Measured top of sleeve seam down to bottom of cuff 19” cuff opening 4 1/4”
Length: Measured the front at the hoodie “V” opening to the hem 28” From the center back of the neck seam to hem 30 1/2”
Fabrics: main top part 97%poly 3% spandex, sweater bottom 97%poly 3% spandex, the orange/grey stripe on sleeve 100% cotton, the red knit cuff is yarn with glass beads, the black/wht stripe upper sleeve 100%cotton (from a size M top)
