Welcome to my boutique of Born Again Originals! Each item is a one of kind, not to be seen ever on anyone else, for I create my designs by starting with a discarded, thrift store find, then reconstruct, embellish with appliques, or mixture of other parts of thrift clothing, trims, buttons, whatever to ensure that each creation is different and never the same. Just as you are…a one of kind, so you have found the right place….come and spend a little time perusing through these designs. The work you will find is diverse and unique….an eclectic mix of materials, textures and patterns. This upcycled top “Chloe” has been reconstructed using Thrift store finds of a Men’s dress shirt, a linen tablecloth, and a bedsheet. Mother of pearl buttons add interest and shimmer with large pockets on a flared hem. Colors are brown plaid, Tuscan yellow and cream. The Men’s medium brown plaid shirt was used for the body and button down opening, the short sleeves and back bottom of top, cut up and made from a tablecloth. For contrast against the yellow, a solid brown bedsheet was cut up and surged to the plaid shirt. The border of the tablecloth was cut up and used as accents at the shoulders and neck, and pockets and back mid shoulder.
Fabrics: The Men’s plaid shirt 100%cotton, the yellow tablecloth 100% linen, the brown bedsheet unknown but a poly blend I believe The beauty of wearing refashioned clothing from secondhand items is to tell the world that you care about the environment I take that discarded item and give it new life in a new unique way. Each piece is handmade and any little imperfections, I feel is all part of the “hand” in the process. I design each piece as if I were going to wear it myself, thus difficult at times to see them go. But, it heartens me knowing that they are sent out with a blessing and maybe I may run into it again one day!
This is a NON RETURNABLE ITEM! Please take note of the measurements below. Please measure a favorite outfit (not while on yourself) laid out on a flat surface, and compare the measurements I have provided. Also take into consideration the fabrics…knits/acrylic/poly give a little, cottons do not. If you have any questions about this garment please contact me prior to purchasing. I will gladly send you more photos. The current photos were taken inside under natural light and also under recessed lighting. Garment has been pre-washed from a non-smoking home.
Measurements: Garment is measured when laid on a flat surface and measured across or down on the front side.
Bust: I measured from the front side armpit across front to other armpit 19 1/2” . I measured 2” down from the armpit on the side seam and measured across the front to the other side seam (Bust) and that measured 19 1/2” the same as first measurement.
Waist: Measured about 6” down from the armpit on the side seam and across front to other side seam 19 3/4”
Hips: Measured about 12” down from armpit area on side seam across front to other side seam 26” The opening at the hem is 39” measured
Shoulders: Measured from center of the back of the neck to top of sleeve 9”,
Sleeve: Measured top of sleeve seam down to bottom of cuff 13 1/2” cuff opening 6”
Length: Measured the front center opening to the hem 30 1/2” From the center back of the neck seam to hem 32 1/2”
Model is a size M 5’5″ tall 115 lbs to give you an idea of size.
